The Portraits

In Tamerat' Siltan’s long- awaited new solo show in the US, the artist sheds a new perspective on his signature motif, the cutting board, often used to represent the strength and tenacity of women in his society. Through impeccable technique and a sharp direction, Siltan has created a whole new body of work for the world to see. In The Portraits, the artist takes himself out of his work, and puts the focus on others; his communities, his cities, his neighborhoods, often highlighting ordinary people doing ordinary things, and bringing light to the small beauties they bring to this world.
